This week’s featured art(ist) is Ralph McQuarrie.
McQuarrie designed much of the original concept art for the Original Star Wars Trilogy. He is also responsible for the art of franchises like Battlestar Galactica (1978), Indiana Jones and E.T. He was offered a role designing for the Star Wars prequels, but he turned it down.
In particular, it’s fun to see how this man’s passion, technique and skill contributed to such an enduring franchise like Star Wars. McQuarrie died in 2012, so his legacy lives on in the beauty of his designs and the enduring iconography of his work.
