Featured Artist – Jim Lee

This week’s featured artist is the famous Jim Lee.

Jim Lee is a noted and famous comic artist. He gained acclaim in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s as an artist for Marvel comics. In particular, his work on X-Men in the early 1990’s made him a fan favorite.

Lee left Marvel to help establish a new publishing company, Image Comics, with several other illustrators. Image was created so that artists would not have to relinquish the copyrights to the characters they created – notable series published by Image include both The Walking Dead and Saga. However, Jim did eventually go to DC Entertainment, where he has since worked on almost every major DC property. He’s responsible for many of the New 52 redesigns and the design for Injustice: Gods Among Us character, Scorpion.

There’s an obvious reason as to why Lee has had so much success- this guy is one of the best character illustrators and colorists in comics. His work is bombastic – full of color and definition. Check out his skills in action in the video I’ve included below:
